About Us
About the CEO: Inner Earth Energy's founder and Principal, Dave Sheild, brings to the company a wealth of experience in the fields of geology, environmental engineering, construction, education and business management.
Dave worked for fifteen years as a geologist for an engineering consulting firm, overseeing Superfund sites in dense urban areas from Detroit to the eastern seaboard.
In this capacity, Dave developed expertise in drilling, excavation, quality control and technical operations.
He is an accredited geothermal installer (International Ground Source Heat Pump Association,) and has completed the coursework in Geothermal Heat Pump Systems Design for Commercial and Industrial Buildings taught by Dr. Steve Kavanaugh of the University of Alabama.
Conception: Despite the fact that the number of geothermal installations is growing annually, its application pales in comparison to the endless possibilities. It was out of this realization that Inner Earth Energy was conceived. In the new home construction market, we are witnessing the emergence of "green" builders who are electing to go geothermal. Dave Sheild's vision goes further to establish a Minneapolis Urban Energy Initiative (MUSE) committed to energy-efficient redesign and retrofit of existing homes in the urban environment.
A
MESSAGE FROM DAVE SHEILD ON:
The
Environment
As a survival instructor and environmental scientist, Dave has recognized the importance of sustainability and fully understands and appreciates that we live in a closed system. The Earth is a closed system - nothing coming in, nothing going out. Our resources are finite so we must make the best use of them. Carbon or fossil-based resources are present on earth but in limited quantities. Given this limitation, these resources are best used in a sustainable way, a prime example being recyclable products. As the realities of global warming become increasingly apparent, each of us is faced with the choice to be part of the solution. Choosing to burn fossil fuels is effectively choosing to be part of the problem.
The Economy
Inner Earth Energy's mission statement, "Modeling economic growth through environmental sustainability", says it all. We may forward the discussion for a sustainable earth while simultaneously creating market-driven incentives. The geothermal heat pump has been around for about 40 years. With fuel costs spiraling out of control, the time for geothermal is long overdue. Geothermal technology offers the most cost effective, environmentally sustainable, and efficient method of space conditioning available today. With nearly forty percent (40%) of our nation's total petroleum budget dedicated to heating and cooling systems, the geothermal industry is postured for explosive growth. This growth will positively impact our economy, our environment and our geopolitical climate.
In launching Inner Earth Energy, Ltd., we look forward to creating employment opportunities in a growth industry centered on sustainability. We will work hand-in-hand with other geothermal ventures to further a collective commitment to our mission. If our country were to rely on geothermal energy to meet our heating and cooling demands, we could eventually reduce our foreign oil (fossil fuel) consumption by twenty-three percent (23%) over the next twenty-five years and our CO2 emissions by seventy percent (70%) before the turn of the century, simultaneously creating job opportunities.
